One of the books I was gifted as a young engineer was First Things First by Stephen Covey. It taught me the wisdom of managing task lists and, more importantly, the essential value of planning with purpose rather than reacting to urgency.

A boss doesn’t just work through a list—they own their time like a CEO runs a business. Here are some Golden Trifecta Moves to lead your time like a boss:

1️⃣ WORK in the "Plan Zone"

A boss doesn’t chase fires—they prevent them. Use Covey’s Urgent vs. Important Matrix to divide tasks:

✅ Important & Not Urgent → This is your Plan Zone, where real progress happens.

❌ Urgent & Not Important → Minimize these distractions and empower others.

⏳ “The key is not to prioritize what’s on your schedule, but to schedule your priorities.” – Stephen Covey

2️⃣ IDENTIFY Your High-Power Moves

Bosses don’t get lost in busy work. They strategize, mobilize, and execute high-impact actions.

💡 "What’s the ONE thing I can do, such that by doing it, everything else will become easier or unnecessary?" – The ONE Thing

🔑 “Success is about doing the right thing, not about doing everything right.” – Gary Keller

3️⃣ PROTECT Your Energy

A boss guards their time and energy like their most valuable assets. They set boundaries to stay optimistic, take intentional breaks (I recommend every hour), and delegate what doesn’t require their attention.

💡 “The positive thinker sees the invisible, feels the intangible, and achieves the impossible.” — Winston Churchill

But beyond tasks, a boss knows true success isn’t just about the grind—it’s about protecting what truly matters.

🏡 Family

💪 Health

Don’t let the three things that bring bliss to your mind, become the three things you miss in the grind.

🚀 Lead your time. Prioritize wisely. You are the Boss!
