Rainbow-Colored Radiation 🌈

Recently, my dog Zoe accidentally scratched her eye and needed special medication. After a few days, she was back to her usual stare-downs for mealtime, walk time, and snuggle time. Watching her heal made me pause and reflect on how special it is to see.

Most of us can distinguish over a million different colors, thanks to wavelengths of electromagnetic radiation entering our eyes. Yet that tiny slice of visible light represents only 0.0035% of the electromagnetic spectrum. The remaining wavelengths of radiation, such as ultraviolet, infrared, radar, and radio, pass around us unseen.

If our eyes capture less than one percent of reality, how much more are we missing when it comes to people? I believe when we "walk a mile in someone else's shoes," our perspective is still incomplete. We can’t see someone’s whole story. We don’t see all their hidden battles, their history, and their emotions. Like invisible wavelengths, their truth and paradigm lie outside our limited range.

So why waste energy reacting to what we think we see? Instead, we can courageously choose curiosity. We can slow down, seek understanding, and at the very least, gain clarity in our own thoughts before speaking or acting.

And with that clarity, next time you are within 20 feet of meeting someone, remember: what you see is only a small fraction of what's real. Ask yourself: What’s outside my 20/20 vision right now? 🤓

Practice seeing the rainbow-colored radiation of the unseen, not with your eyes but with your empathy. 💛🌈
