One of my daughter’s favorite shows is Say Yes to the Dress. In an episode we watched last week, a woman chose a gown not to marry another, but to marry herself. She was her fiancé! Maybe we should all marry ourselves, before anyone else. It is a liberating feeling to be in love with who we are: our strengths, our weaknesses, and the standards we represent. Every time we look in the mirror, we should see our soulmate and give them a smile. 🤓

I believe you cannot fully express love to another until you first learn to love yourself. It’s the same wisdom flight attendants share before takeoff: put on your own oxygen mask before helping others. If you are gasping for air, you cannot save the person next to you.

When was the last time you dated yourself? Being “self-full” is not selfish. Do you enjoy the person you see in the reflection? Loving yourself first enables the overflow that fuels your love for others.

As my son prepared to start university, I entered a new chapter. For the first time in over twenty years, I took a vacation alone. I visited Brussels, my favorite city. I wandered through museums, marveled at architecture, and savored the best chocolate. I averaged ten miles of walking a day. And between the parks, the art, and the culture of the city, I was continuously smiling inside.

More smiles per mile than the AMG I owned. 🌟 I came home refreshed, renewed, and more present for my family.

You don’t always need a plane ticket. A solo walk, a quiet dinner, or an hour with your journal can be a date with yourself. What matters is the intention. Do you listen to your thoughts? Do you honor your needs? Do you treat yourself with the patience and kindness you hope to give others?

Say yes to yourself today. When you do, you open the door to say yes to everyone else with love, energy, and truth. 💛
