What does it feel like when you leave your favorite barber, salon, or spa? What about the joy when you have a clear mind, full of contentment and peace? Life is short, we should strive to feel like this everyday! Besides, "cleanliness is next to godliness!"

I recall globally sought after equipment owners bringing a paint can and brush into the manufacturing facility, so they could clean then repaint their equipment frames during a planned downtime. This enabled them to be fully engaged and become the best at quickly detecting and resolving product quality and/or equipment defects during normal operation. As a result, their plants had the highest quality, machine reliability, and safety results.

The environment we live in often reflects our thoughts, emotions, and health. The more we clean, organize, and structure our environment, the better we feel and the more productive we become. I have regularly planned days to pack things for donation and/or to better organize and clean my environment. This energizes me and helps me be more creative.

Our personal purity is an inside-out job. The dusting of self (ego) and pride can conceal our soul's light which our bodies are meant to shine. The same goes for the quality of food we consume. Think of a Lamborghini, a small amount of dust on the spark plugs can lead to inefficient fuel consumption, slow acceleration, and engine misfires.

3 Steps to becoming "so fresh and so clean, clean"

  1. Fresh Appearance. Do you wear clothes that make you feel happy? Early in my career I sported a blazer, even with jeans or work pants. Wearing blazers helped me have the mindset of being professional, thorough, and dedicated. Also, a blazer was the first expensive piece of clothing I bought after college. What about your body - what do you use to clean, exfoliate, and moisturize your skin? What approaches work best for you?

  1. Clean Environment. "The standards you walk by are the standards you accept." Do you make your bed in the morning, pick up clothes off the floor, fold your clothes at the seams, wash your dishes after use, detail your car, and organize your closet like a Louis Vuitton store display? I do. What about your social environment? Over the past year, I had to redefine my associations. My wise Uncle preached "poor associations spoil useful habit." When I reviewed my contact list, I was astonished to realize most (including some family members) were superficial, energy draining relationships. What do you want in your environment to bring the best out of you?

  1. Clean Food. Do you eat fresh fruits and vegetables? Do you investigate the purity and the level of toxins in what you consume? A free app I use is Yuka (works for skin products too). All you do is scan the barcode with your phone camera and you get 100% product transparency. Pay attention to how you feel when eating certain foods. After a recent water only Fast, I was able to smell and taste the chemicals in food. As a result, I now eat fruits, nuts, and vegetables and stay away from dairy, meat, and anything processed or toxic. What foods are optimal for you?

Please take a moment to assess and redefine your appearance, environment, and food. As caretaker of your soul's temple, you can choose to make it "so fresh and so clean, clean" so it Shines!
