Art, the maximizer of the Engineer

I have discovered in my career that the best way to maximize your potential is to drive balance in awareness of the left and right hemispheres of your brain. This means, we often need to take time to pause and do a corpus callosum flow check.

As engineers, we are naturally taught and wired to be connected with our left brain (e.g. facts, logic, analytics, etc.). However, that is only 50% of our capability as humans. In order to best lead our teams, we need to ensure a healthy connection and awareness with our right hemisphere (e.g. intuition, creativity, emotion/empathy). Taking a break to paint a picture, play an instrument, or visualize a plan is a great way to quickly solve technical problems!
